Street Workers, 2015
They were just sitting there. We stepped out of Ion Orchard, at the top of the famed Orchard Boulevard in Singapore, one of the more densely packed collections of branded luxury goods in the world.
It was scorching hot outside, as it was noonish, judging from the shadows, or lack thereof. In Singapore it’s either hot, or hot and rainy, and you don’t get much else. These poor guys had to work in the direct heat, fixing the cracked stone tiles that see the wear and tear of millions of feet a year.
Boxes, as helmets, protecting them from the heat, with a cut out so they can see what it is they are doing. I snapped the photo on my iPhone, not really appreciating the moment until I returned home and sent the photo to my laptop.
THIS WAY UP! It says so right on the box-cum-helmet.
